Ishaq Dar, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, arrived in Kabul today for a significant one-day visit focused on fostering bilateral relations and addressing key regional matters. His arrival at Kabul International Airport was marked by a warm reception from senior Taliban officials.
During this important visit, Minister Dar is set to engage in discussions with prominent Taliban leaders, including Prime Minister Mohammad Hassan Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, and Acting Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi.
According to a statement issued by Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the talks will center around enhancing cooperation across various sectors, including regional security, trade, transit connectivity, and fostering stronger people-to-people relations. The Ministry underlined Pakistan’s enduring commitment to constructive dialogue with Afghanistan, emphasizing mutual respect and shared objectives.
This diplomatic visit takes place in the context of evolving political and security dynamics between the two neighboring countries. Ishaq Dar is the second Pakistani Foreign Minister to visit Kabul since the Taliban’s return to power in 2021, following Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s visit in the same year.
